Water chemistry (5 credits)

On this course, students will be given an introduction to water chemistry and investigate the physical and chemical characteristics of environmental water, drinking and wastewater, and the effect of impurities on these characteristics. The impact of water impurities on the environment, technical water systems and human health are also covered. The course includes lectures and laboratory exercises. In the laboratory exercises, key issues include organic material and its removal, different fractions of nitrogen, the corrosiveness of drinking water and the associated parameters, as well as sulphur, iron and aluminium. The course is targeted at professionals in the water treatment sector, and authorities, students and others involved in environmental health or protection who require expertise in water chemistry.

Applied Water Chemistry (2 credits)

This online, English-language course will familiarise students with the basics in water chemistry. Students will learn about the physical and chemical characteristics of environmental water, drinking and wastewater, and the effect of impurities on these characteristics. In addition to online tasks, the course includes contact hours, a short written element and a seminar.
