Water safety during mining operations (5 credits)

On this course, students will learn about the emissions generated by mining operations, and their environmental effects, management and reduction. The course will focus on the best solutions for the management and treatment of mining waste and mine water, and how best to take account of such solutions during the operation of a mine and after its closure. Based on sample calculations and visits to mines, students will learn about solutions to problems related to water safety in mines. The course is intended for people whose work involves challenges and technical solutions related to the environmental aspects of mining and water safety: public servants and mining supervisors handling applications by mines for environmental and water resource management permits, researchers, teaching staff, planners and environmental engineers, as well as university students.
